The sentence that started this.
Bedtime and the board meeting
A few years ago I was putting my toddlers to bed. Reading the story, doing the voices. And the whole time I was arguing with a board member in my head. My wife saw it. She said, “We don’t need you to do more. We just need you to be here.”
That sentence is why Hybrid Dad exists.
We, not me

I came to Scotland from Germany at 19 for a volunteer year in a care community in Edinburgh. I met my wife within an hour of arriving. We’ve built everything together since: seven children, a home that is loud and full of love, and a life that asks a lot of both of us.
When people ask how I do it, the honest answer is that I don’t. We do. My wife is the backbone of our family, and we lean on friends, family and our older kids too.
The work
I’ve been a manager ince 2008 and chief executive of a medium-sized organisation since 2019. Along the way I did a PhD in economics. I love the hills and I train most mornings.
When my systems stopped working

In 2024 my systems stopped living up to my life. Twenty pounds of weight crept on. My routines slipped. By the summer I had to admit I was burning out. I didn’t push harder. I went back to foundations: sleep, food, movement and space to think. That rebuild is the heart of how I coach.
Why I coach
I don’t coach because I’ve arrived. I coach because I’m in the work too, a step or two ahead on the same path. I’ve now worked with over a hundred fathers who look successful from the outside and feel fragmented on the inside. Not to make them less ambitious. To help them carry it well.

Start where I started. At the front door.
The 15-Minute Work-to-Home Reset is the first thing I rebuilt. It’s free, and you can use it tonight.
