About me

I moved to Scotland in 2006 to volunteer for a non-profit in the care sector, which I am now honoured to serve as the CEO of. My life is dedicated to my family and the people I can positively impact through my work.

I am passionate about exploring the great outdoors with my family as well as pushing my own limits with fitness adventures often combining a mix of strength and endurance sports.

My go-to non-fiction read is "Extreme Ownership" by Jocko Willink, and for fiction it’s got to be "The Lord Of The Rings".

Please reach out and say hi, it’s always a genuine pleasure to meet people on the path of becoming their best selves.

What is Parenting Compass?

Parenting Compass is a new angle I’m taking to serve parents better, by sharing my experiences and insights as a husband and father of six, all while balancing the role of CEO for a charity in Scotland and pursuing my own fitness adventures.

I started writing online three and a half years ago. Ironically, the one topic I avoided was parenting.

Why? Because I felt inadequate talking about it. Everyone’s parenting journey is different. I’m just figuring it out as I go, and my wife is, without a doubt, the better parent.

So, who am I to talk about parenting?

Over time, as I wrote my newsletter and shared on social media, two things happened. First, I met incredible people who have become dear friends, enriching my life in countless ways. And second, people kept telling me the same thing: The one thing you should be talking about is parenting.

Precisely because I’m not a parenting guru, I can share our real-world experiences as a guide to others. With six kids, my family and I have learned so much along the way, and I believe sharing those insights could be a valuable compass for other parents.

As parents, everything we do is influenced by our children. Whether it’s maintaining a healthy relationship with our spouse, creating time for work growth, or pursuing personal goals, it all revolves around the time and energy we put into being present for our kids.

The quest for work-life balance is often frustrating. It’s not about perfection—it’s about knowing our purpose and navigating each day with intention.

If sharing our journey helps other parents and leads to connections with people on similar paths, we can all learn and grow together.

And that’s what Parenting Compass is all about.
